Discontinuance of Prosecution and Dismissal of Charges with Prejudice:

The judgement of the Court of Antwerp (Belgium) dated 11 October 2018, in which the settlement between the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Antwerp and Louis Reijtenbagh and his family was approved, has today acquired authority of res judicata. Consequently, the court's decision has become final and definitive and bars relitigation.

The aforementioned approved settlement provided a final and complete resolution in the dispute with the Belgian Authorities that concerned domicile-related tax and ancillary issues which allegedly occurred over a decade ago. The settlement did not constitute any conviction, nor any finding or admission of guilt, wrongdoing or misconduct whatsoever. Louis Reijtenbagh and his family have at all times expressly denied and formally disputed all allegations.

Under the approved settlement, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has discontinued the entire prosecution and dismissed all charges with prejudice. Accordingly, Louis Reijtenbagh and his family have hereby been cleared of all allegations of domicile-related tax and ancillary issues. The matter is now decided conclusively and has been closed permanently.
